Dr. Jordan Burt is a Researcher at the Applied Economics Clinic. She first joined AEC in 2022 as a Research Assistant. She has experience conducting research and analysis related to decarbonization and equity. With a background in Geographic Information Science (GIS) and environmental economics, Dr. Burt specializes in spatial environmental analysis. She has authored several reports and assisted in the preparation of comments in Kentucky. Her recent work includes investigating health impacts of the Pittsfield Generating Facility on local communities and identifying potential pathways for decarbonizing peak electricity demand in Massachusetts.
Prior to joining the Applied Economics Clinic, Dr. Burt worked as a Research Assistant at Clark University where she was involved with a variety of projects that dealt with water use in the manufacturing sector, water pollution, and environmental regulation. While obtaining her Master’s degree, Dr. Burt’s research focused on two topics: Water availability and water pollution. Her doctoral research relied on stated preference analysis to determine households’ willingness to pay for water quality improvements, as well as understanding how household recreation behavior changes under potential future scenarios.
Dr. Burt holds a PhD in Economics from Clark University, a Master of Arts in Economics from Clark University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Assumption College.
